Today marked the US release of the much anticipated collector's edition of one of the best superhero film franchise that graced us over the past few years -- the Dark Knight Trilogy. It retails for about $100, that's about p4000, more or less, plus the shipping costs if we ever intend to order it abroad.

Luckily, we too, will have a local release for the definite set.

There are no official statements about this as of yet, but a teaser image of the very packaging was posted online by Magnavision Home Video, the official distributor of Warner Bros.' releases in the country.

Now this got my hopes pretty high. I haven't bought any of the previous releases of the trilogy sets because I knew somehow that they'll soon be releasing something like this along the way.

From what I have gathered, the set is basically a repackaged version, as the featured discs are the same as their previous releases. Fear not, though. The set will have tons of extra bonuses that were not present in those versions, and a bunch of collectibles will be included as well.
  • a new disc that will have all new special features
  • there's a letter from the highly acclaimed director, Christopher Nolan
  • a couple of art cards by Mondo will be included
  • a 48-page book, The Art of The Dark Knight Trilogy
  • premium Hot-Wheels replicas of the Batmobile Tumbler, Batpod, and The Bat
]

Aren't we sold on this, yet? Now I'm not sure if this will be worth getting for those who already own the previous blu-ray versions, but those bonus materials will be too hard to ignore. No doubt that there were versions of the book and vehicles released before too but I wonder if the ones included will be any different. The vehicles seems to be the high-end versions from Hot Wheels. The art posters will surely look good framed up side by side on the wall; and by golly these were designed by one of my favorite comic book artist at the moment, Jock.That's a huge selling point on my part.

I cannot wait for this to be released. Hopefully, official word on this comes out soon. I believe that this will be the definite set in the long run.
