Ahhh...Pixar has, once again, delivered a perfect animated movie that will touch the hearts of kids and adults alike — Inside Out.
It is an emotional roller coaster and I'll tell ya upfront -- this will make you laugh, this will make your hearts cry out, and this is undoubtedly one of the best films of the year!
The story revolves around 11 year old, Riley, whose world turned into an emotional topsy-turvy frenzy when her parents decided to move to San Francisco and will now have to deal with a lot of adjustments -- which is definitely not fun for kids!
That pretty much covers up the plot of the film but the real deal is inside Riley's mind, where characterized personas of Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger and Disgust have been operating.
Joy has been in charge since Day 1, whose job is to, well, make Riley happy at all times! But what about the other emotions? Are we all supposed to be just joyful at all costs?
The message I received upon watching the film is that most of the other emotions are treated negatively wherein they are just natural reactions to certain events of our lives, and they are all as important as Joy. You'll just have to watch the adventures of these guys in Riley's mind (their HQ) to see what I mean. Heh.
As with any Pixar film, this one has a stunning visual and the musical score really gets into you. And of course, the movie may and will appear as cute as ever but it is very very deep! Deep enough that will even make the adults reminisce their own childhoods and feel nostalgic.
Dealing with these emotions and having it all happen through an 11 year old kid is definitely risky and challenging for a movie, but mad props to directors Pete Docter and Ronnie del Carmen for successfully delivering an outstanding feature.
Overall, this gets a perfect score from me and I'm eager to seeing this again. Highly recommended for the gang and for the whole family!
I'm urging you, guys, to please watch this on the big screen! It'll be so worth it!
