As always, I celebrated Free Comic Book Day with Comic Odyssey and Fully Booked, at their Bonifacio High Street branches.
And of course, it won't be FCBD without the discounted graphic novels and back issue titles from the bins!
It's been a while since I bought TPBs and I happily grabbed some from the event:
Also these few back issues of New 52 Batman, glad to see Comic Odyssey still had stocks of these, it's right where I left off and it feels good that I'm back on track with the series.
TRESE creators as well were both present and I got them to sign my copies of books 2 and 3, wish I brought all their books though, such great people!
Free Comic Book Day has always been one of the most celebrated event in the Philippines. The aim is to inspire people to read books in general and each year is a success.
It was a huge hit and I had a lot of fun, I'm sure that next year will be even more bigger. Kudos to the continued collaboration of Comic Odyssey and Fully Booked of bringing stable comic related events to our shores.
Next stop would be a visit from The Walking Dead artist, Charlie Adlard this May 10-11. Be sure to drop by and celebrate another milestone event, I'm surely going and have my TPBs signed!

It is obvious that FCBD has gained a lot more of fandom over the past few years. The line of people wanting to get their hands on free comics started real early at around 4AM.
The store gave 3 free comic books to each attendee. I tagged my sister along to come with me so we could get more loots.
We arrived at around 11AM, I figured most free titles would still be up for grabs at the time as the store just opened.
Boy, was I wrong! Only a select titles were available when we entered the premises. I was looking forward to getting Mouse Guard as that is one of my yearly FCBD pickup but I missed out this time. No surprise there as this year's was published in hard bound format - instant attraction for everyone who got to browsed through the selection!
Check out the FCBD books that I got:

After making the rounds for the FCBD books, more free comics will be handed out to you by the friendly crew and these are what we got:
More free books from Comic Odyssey! |
Fully Booked had the usual 20% off discount on their wide selection of goodies, and even offered up to 50% off on a lot of selected titles, while Comic Odyssey had the store wide sale as well with the p100 back issues, discounts on toys and collectibles and so on...

Back on Track with Batman Eternal and Zero Year Titles! |
Led by Mr. Komikero, Gerry Alanguilan and Whilce Portacio, a lot of comic artists graced the event as well. Doing signings, quick sketches and fan meets with the attendees!
Now, had I known that Whilce would be there, I would have bought a few of his works and have them signed! Such a shame as it will probably be a long time til I get to meet him again!
Although, I did buy one of his shirts, in collaboration with Team Manila, and got it signed! The shirts was launched on FCBD and only a number of 70 will be available. Mine's Lucky 13!
I knew that Mang Gerry would be there so I brought my copy of Rodski Patotski and got it signed!
Signed by Mr. Komikero! |
Thank you sirs Budjette and Kajo! Books 4 and 5 naman sa next signing! :) |
